Room to spread out, ten minutes from the sea
Casa Antonius is a 120 m² house on three levels in Balaia, the low, green stretch of Albufeira between the old town and the beaches at Santa Eulália. It is a residential address rather than a resort one: terracotta roofs, hedges, a shared pool and a playground, and neighbours who live here all year.
Inside there is more space than six people usually get. Three bedrooms and three bathrooms mean two families or two couples can travel together without anyone drawing the short straw. The living room opens onto a shaded terrace; two balconies upstairs catch the morning and the evening, and from one of them you look straight out to the sea.

Six guests and three bathrooms — two of them with a bath. Getting out of the house in the morning stops being a negotiation, which is the difference between a good week and a tense one.

The condominium pool is open all year and maintained for you, with a separate shallow section for small children and lawns and hedges around it.

From October the Algarve changes gear: the crowds go home, tee times open up, the light softens and lunch outside stays on the menu. The house is built for it — heating as well as cooling, a year-round pool, a full kitchen and a proper workspace. Golfers, remote workers and winter-sun guests: this is your window.

About the pool
The pool at Casa Antonius is communal: it belongs to the condominium and is shared with the other houses, so you may well have company on a hot August afternoon. In return it is properly maintained, open year-round, ringed by lawn rather than concrete, and it has a separate shallow pool for small children a few steps away. If your heart is set on a pool nobody else can use, this is not the right house.
Balaia, and what is around it
Balaia Golf is 900 metres from the door. Santa Eulália and Maria Luísa beaches are two kilometres away, Albufeira’s old town is a seven-minute drive, and Faro airport is roughly 35 kilometres east. Between them sits a stretch of coast — Olhos de Água, the red cliffs at Falésia — that most visitors never slow down enough to find.
An unhurried kind of Albufeira
Albufeira has a reputation, and it is earned — but it belongs to a particular half-kilometre of the town, and Casa Antonius is not in it. This is a residential condominium where people live all year, and the house is set up for slow mornings, long lunches and quiet evenings. Parties and events are not permitted, and guests are asked to respect the neighbourhood they are staying in. If you are looking for a base within staggering distance of a nightlife strip, this is not the house for you. If you are looking for the opposite, it may be exactly right.
