Some people arrive in the Algarve for a week and quietly start doing arithmetic about a month. Casa Antonius is set up better than most holiday houses for that: it has a full kitchen rather than a holiday one, a washing machine, a desk, air conditioning that heats as well as cools, three bedrooms so visitors are not a crisis, and a pool that does not close for the winter.
The location helps too. Balaia is residential rather than seasonal — there are neighbours here in January — with a supermarket a couple of kilometres away, a hospital a similar distance, and the train station at Albufeira-Ferreiras about five kilometres off for days out along the coast without a car.
